A family in Lincoln County is waiting for RISE WV to replace their flood-ravaged home after waiting five months.

“I want to stay here, this is home to us,” Ricky Maynard said.

The flood of June 2016 left their double-wide trailer irreparable.

“The water came off the hill and down under the trailer, pushed all the foundation out of it and bent the frame on it,” Maynard said.

They made due for a year and half until finally Rise WV committed to remove their trailer and replace it within 21 days.

“That was January 29 when they knocked it down. They ain’t contacted us or nothing about it,” Maynard said.

Twenty-one days of moving from home to home, crashing with friends and relatives turned into five months.

“It ain’t no place like home,” Frances Maynard said.

It also is no place for her grandchildren to visit.

“I just sit and cry a lot of times… He wants to stay with mom-maw, and he’s just four years old. I try to explain it to him, and he’ll cry,” Frances Maynard said.

At first they were told they were at the top of the list and then the 12th, and with every call they hear something different.

“We call them, and it seems like just different answers,” Frances Maynard said. “We can’t get a hold of this one, can’t get a hold of that one…I told them just bring me a single wide, something to live in.”

Eyewitness News continues to reach out to Governor Jim Justice’s office about these concerns. So far there has been no answer.
