Mildred D. Summers went home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 2, 2018, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

She was born March 4, 1923, in Ovapa, to the late Cossie and Stella Summers. Mildred was also preceded in death by her sisters, Olive Brown, Lois Weiland, Opal Crawford and Imogene Shamblin; and brother, Harold Summers.

Mildred attended church at Ovapa Bethel Methodist Church and retired as a cashier from the Clay County Bank. She was known as a very hard worker and a loving and caring person. Mildred was considered by many of her family as a second mother.

Surviving are her sister, Carolyn “Judy” Summers of S.C.; brothers, Cossie Jr. and wife Jean Summers of Ohio, and Steve Summers of Ohio and fiancée, Nancy of Duck; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Francis White.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Ovapa Bethel Methodist Church, at 75 Ovapa Road, Ovapa, WV 25164.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Ovapa Bethel Methodist Church, with Pastor Paul Hopkins. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery in Ovapa.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview.
