Betty Lou Howell Runion, 88, of Comfort, went home to be with the Lord December 30, 2017, at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston.
She was a former secretary at East Bank Junior High School and was a longtime den mother for the Chesapeake Cub Scouts. She was a Christian and began playing piano at the age of 14 at the Cheapeake Assembly of God, where she also served as a Sunday School Teacher. She most recently attended White Oak Community Church at Orgas and was active in the Boone County Senior Citizens. She loved camping, reading her Bible and she never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Don Howell; parents: Oma and Anna Ankrom Davis; and infant sister: Jeanetta.
Surviving are husband: Roy Runion of Comfort; daughters: Margie (Joe) Withrow of Elkview, Donna Barlese of Nixon, NV; sons: Larry (Dodie) Howell of Cross Lanes, Darrell (Judy) Howell of St. Albans, Terry (Debbie) Howell of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren: Donetta Person, Terry Howell Jr., Kristy Howell, Darrell Howell Jr., Mark Workman, Jared Stover, Stacy Harrison, Adam Howell, Clay Stover, Christopher Howell, Mary Katherine Howell; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet, with Rev. Bill Messer officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, WV.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 4, at the funeral home.
