Arden Edward Carte, 69, of Pinch, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at home after a long illness.

He was a 1967 graduate of Herbert Hoover High School. He was a retired coal miner with District 17.

Arden loved the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting and had a passion for teaching archery to children. He would often go out driving with his wife, Donna, to see how many deer the could find.

Arden was the son of late Lloyd and Thelma Carte of Pinch. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 1/2 years, Donna Sue (White) Carte; his son, Jonathan Carte; daughter, Betsy Franco; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arden also is survived by his step-children, Shawn and Amber Smith, Scott and Rachel Smith, and their children, and by his adopted daughter, Staci Moore.

He will be missed by all who knew him. He was saved at a young age and lived his life in service to the Lord, teaching children about the love of Jesus with Almost Heaven Archers and the West Virginia Bow Hunters Association for 11 years. Above all, Arden lies with Jesus, his Lord and Savior.

Flowers will be sent to Mount Tabor Church, but please, no flowers from Special Occasion Florist.

Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, with Pastor Danny Kinder and Pastor Earl Cochran officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
