Elizabeth Lois (Betty Kittner) Kittinger, 87, of Crossville, TN, left this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2018, in the presence of family at the Life Care Center of Crossville.

Betty was born on January 20, 1931, in Wills Creek, WV, and was the daughter of the late William Wilson Smith, Jr., and Othella (Otha) Rucker Smith.

Betty was real estate professional who last worked at Coldwell Banker in Charleston, WV, prior to retirement.  She attended the Elkview Baptist Church prior to moving to Crossville to be near her daughter Deborah and family.  Betty loved and was loved by her family, and always placed them at the top of her priorities. She had many friends in the Elk River community where she lived and worked the majority of her life.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert Kittinger; daughters, Beverly Kay Walsten and Deborah Jean Hively; and by her siblings Howard William Smith, Rev. Harry Doyle Smith, Kermit Cue Smith, William Wilson Smith III, Johnnie Holbert Smith, Delcie May Nivison, Dessie Lee Chandler, Dorothy Helen Smith, Phyllis Ann Hunt, and Nancy Kathleen Gandee.

Betty’s surviving sibling includes Patricia Louise Humphries of Prince George, VA, and her niece Sharon Lee Chalice of Haymarket, VA, who was always known by family as Aunt Sherry. Betty is also survived by her two sons; Charles Anthony Kittner and wife, Ilene, of Klamath Falls, OR; and Stephen Gilbert Kittner and wife, Valentina, of Davenport, FL.  She has, and will be missed, by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A small graveside service with family was held in Betty’s honor at the Crossville City Cemetery in Crossville, TN.
