Claude L. Slate Sr., 80, of Clendenin, went home Tuesday, December 5, 2017.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a tank operator, was a truck driver for Kroger and WV Steel for 37 years, and was a member of the Teamsters Union 175.
To join him at a later date, is his wife, Sylvia “Mickey”: children, Kathe, Ilesa and Claude II “Chip”; sister, Minnie Lightner; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a lot of nieces, nephews and dancing friends.
As per his wishes, a memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, December 9, at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fields officiating. Afterwards, he will be cremated and taken for one last four-wheeler ride “on the hill” where his ashes will be scattered.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
