Delbert Jones Jr., 87, of Clendenin, peacefully passed surrounded by family Sunday January 14, 2018, at Hubbard Hospice House West after a wonderful life.
He was the son of the late Delbert and Sybil Jackson Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Harper Jones; brothers, Dean and Arnette Jones; and sister, Judy Harper.
Delbert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clendenin; 61 year welder member of Local Union 798 Tulsa, Oklahoma; he also worked in several states including the Trans Alaska Pipeline; he enjoyed playing Poker and new when to hold em and knew when to fold em; Korean War Army Veteran; twice Past Master of Clendenin Lodge #126 AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
He was survived by: daughter, Debbie (Greg) Rose; son, Doug (Annette) Jones; grandchildren, Jennifer (Delane) Schoolcraft, Maribeth (Craig) McIntosh, Chris Jones and Jennifer (Chris) Veltri; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Emma, Maci and Ayva; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m to noon, Thursday, January 18, at Matics Funeral Home. The funeral service will be noon Thursday, January 18, at Matics Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Forwood and Chris Jones officiating. American Legion Post 61 will perform Military Rites. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Walton, WV. The family suggest donations be made to Hospice Care 1606 Kanawha Blvd West Charleston, WV 25387.
