Jennie Fay Coutz, 85, “Mommy,” “Grandma Jennie,” or “GiGi,” received her Heavenly reward on Friday, December 22, 2017, as she fell into the loving arms of her Savior. Born on Saturday, November 19, 1932, to Norman W. “Tip” and Julia Ann Ohlinger as an angel placed on earth. Her faith in Jesus rested her heart well in these years, but her strength and courage was unwavering through her life. She was recognized by so many as the friendly school lunch lady, serving the Kanawha County School Board for over 30 years, and as a beloved member of Heritage Baptist Church, where she continued her gift of making loving, lasting friendships.

Jennie is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth and Shirley Furby, Harriet and Butch Angle, and Tammie and Tim Adkins; her sweet daughters-in-law, Teresa Coutz, Tammy Coutz and Wendy Anderson-Coutz; her adoring grandchildren, Autumn Furby and Fred Hopkins, Christopher and Melissa Furby, Luke and Alison Adkins, Jennie Adkins, Alex Coutz, Johnna Coutz and Harley Coutz; and her nine beautiful great-grandbabies, who encompassed her heart, as well as her Elk River community and many friends and family from all corners, near and far.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma Barker; her late husband, Harry M. Coutz; and by her four beautiful children: John Coutz, Steve Coutz, Andy Coutz and Julie Coutz.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 29, at Heritage Baptist Church, with Pastor Luke Adkins officiating. Burial will follow Woody Cemetery, Pinch.

Visitation will 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 28, at Heritage Baptist Church, 40 Kayla Lane, Elkview. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
