John T. Veltri, Sr., 87, of Charleston passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at CAMC-Memorial Division following a short illness.

Born December 9, 1930 in Charleston he was a son of the late Joseph and Constance Lopez Veltri. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Veltri; sisters, Rosalie White and Mary Mazzella; brothers, Dominick and Frank Veltri; nephew, Vince White; niece, Connie Waybright.

A first generation Italian-American, his mother and father instilled a very strong work ethic in him. Long days and attention to detail, allowed for a long career with Charleston Tile and Marble. His Catholic faith and upbringing further advanced his generous and giving nature. He held one of the biggest hearts known.

Those left cherishing his memory are his children, John “Boogie” Veltri (Tina) of Charleston, Steve Veltri (Dreama) of Lewisburg, Frank Veltri (Phyllis) of Charleston, Tony Veltri (Becky) of Charleston, Donna Kay Chambers (Allan) of Elkview; his sister, Virginia Veltri of Charleston; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as his lifelong best friend, Buck Hughes of Charleston.
