Larry Allen Ross, 76, of Leon, formerly of Elkview, W.Va., passed away surrounded by family members at the King’s Daughters Hospital in Ashland, Ky., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. He was born on November 8, 1941, in Coco, W.Va.., son of the late Jerry O. and Nora Olive Cross Ross. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dana, Jerry, Billy and Clarence Ross; sisters, Dottie Lynch and Frances Leftwich; and a very special niece, Kendra Olivia Saunders. Larry graduated from Elkview High School in 1960; he proudly served his country with the United States Air Force; his career was dispatching for various trucking companies in the Kanawha Valley.

Larry was an avid reader; also he probably won as many Jeopardy games as Ken Jennings albeit from the comfort of his living room chair. He loved to spend time in the outdoors, be it hunting game in his younger years, to hunting mushrooms, native artifacts and wood / grapevines for making his much sought after canes and walking sticks. The family would be remiss to not mention Larry’s love of flowers and the splendid flower gardens he grew yearly. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank Rondia Parker Smith for her support and love.

Reverend Gary Walker will officiate a graveside service, with military rites, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at the Ross Cemetery, Pinch Ridge Road, Elkview.

Arrangements are in the care of Hafer Funeral Home, 50 North Pinch Rd., Elkview.
