Michael Ray Smailes, 65, of Campbells Creek, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at his home following a short illness.

Mike was born in Charleston on November 10, 1952, to the late Ira Lee Jr. and Marcelline Cleo Dornick Smailes.

He was a 1970 graduate of DuPont High School and a 1974 graduate of WV Tech in Montgomery. He was a retired Tech Sargent with the United State Air Force and was currently working for World Wide Equipment in Cross Lanes.

Mike was a friend to everyone who knew him, especially the gang that would meet of the mornings at the Exxon on Campbells Creek.

At Mike’s request, his body has been cremated and a time of visitation to celebrate his life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and a donation in Mike’s memory be made to a charity of choice.
