Myrtle Brown, 77, of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2018. Myrtle was born on June 9, 1940, to the late William and Twisha Hunt of Elkview.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Roscoe Shaffer and baby boy Hunt; her husband, John Brown; and daughters, Kimberly Black and Pamela (Bob) Fridley.

She was a barber in Big Chimney for over 30 years and went on to provide in home care for many elderly patients that she loved dearly. Myrtle spent her life serving others and serving the Lord. Even in the days leading up to her passing, she made sure her children were saved and made known that it was her desire for all her grandchildren to be saved as well, so that she would see them again one day.

Surviving are daughter, Lee Ann (Norman) Brummer of Elkview; son, Bobby (Pamela) Wolfe of Elkview; brother, Johnny (Christine) Hunt of St. Albans; sister, Bonnie Anderson of Elkview; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Among those closest to Myrtle were grandchildren Rick Black Jr.; Bobby Wayne Wolfe; Twisha (Matthew) Lung and their children, Sabra, Adaira and Briar; Jessica Wolfe and her children, Jacob, Maddie and Kimmie; David Hunt; Heather (Josh) Smith and their children, Landon and Liam; and son-in-law Rick Black Sr., who was also very special to her.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Elk Funeral Home, with Pastors Charles Larue and Lee Swor officiating. Private burial will be in the Shaffer Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Elk Funeral Home and from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Reception will follow service at the Clendenin Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. All are welcome to join us in celebrating the life of Myrtle Brown.
