Sonia Murray Hardman, 77, of Spencer, died March 4, 2018, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, surrounded by members of her family and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Lois Shriver Murray.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, the Rev. Dr. John D. Hardman; son, John Mark Hardman of South Charleston; daughter, Joanna Marie Caley of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; grandson, Noah Isaac Hardman; granddaughter, Sarah Frances Caley; sister, Nancy Hines of Spencer; brother, Dr. David Murray of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sonia was a graduate of Spencer High School, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies. She was a school teacher, having taught in Upshur County schools, Loudon County schools in Virginia, Spencer Elementary School and Spencer High School. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley, where she was a member of the chancel choir.

A Memorial Service of Death and Resurrection will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Epworth United Methodist Church.

Visitation will start at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston or the Memorial Fund at Epworth United Methodist Church.
