CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for multiple areas in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, including Kanawha County.
The Weather Service said the watch will be in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday through Friday morning.
In West Virginia, the watch includes Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mingo, Pleasants, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor, Tyler, Wayne and Wirt.
Meanwhile, in Kentucky counties included in the watch are Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence. In Ohio, Athens, Gallia, Lawrence and Meigs counties are included.
Excessive rain of 1.5 to 2.5 inches is possible. Flooding, ice breakup and ice jam flooding possible over the watch area on streams, creeks, and rivers, the weather service said.
