Belva Lee Scarbro, 90, of Clendenin, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018.

Born September 25, 1927, in Kanawha County, she was the daughter of the late David McKinley and Lydia (Strickland) Shafer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Emery Scarbro; brothers, Alvin and Ovard Shafer; and sister, Mabel Snodgrass.

Mammaw, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, had a very loving and caring heart. She spent her life helping raise grandchildren and working as an in-home care provider to the elderly.

Belva is survived by her sons, David (Carolyn) Scarbro of Left Hand, Darrell Scarbro of Spencer; daughter, Charlotte Witte of Milton; brother, James (Jeanette) Shafer of Somerset, Ky.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
