Clayton Starcher Jr., 86, of Charleston, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 8, 2017, with his family by his side at Hubbard Hospice House.
Clayton was born June 3, 1931, at Gandeeville, to the late Clayton Isacc Starcher and Gladys Snyder Starcher. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Eloise Gandee and Donna Gardner; brother-in-law, Kenny Reed.
He retired from the Appalachian Power Company after 42 years of service. Clayton served his country in the United States Army and United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict. He has been a member of Elkview Baptist Church since 1972 and served as a Trustee for the church. Clayton started the Doughnut Crew, which was a group of men that met at the Church on Mondays and did repairs on the church. He was a 1950 graduate of Walton High School.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Reed Starcher; nephews, Mike (Barbara) Reed and J.R. Reed; nieces, Deanna Lyons, Kitty Faulkner; brothers-in-law, Quinton Reed and Linden Reed.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Sizemore, Pastor Charles Bias and Pastor Linden Reed officiating. Burial will be at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, at the funeral home.
