Nancy Jane Noel Smith, 91, of Elkview, was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 14, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Hubbard Hospice House after an extended illness.
She was born September 30, 1926, to the late Henry H. and Orpha M. Hutchison Noel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis R. Smith; daughter, Judith Dawn King; brothers, Darrell Noel and Gay Noel; and sister, Beulah Ashley.
Nancy was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Elkview and was retired from Charleston Area Medical Center, General Division, after several years of service.
Survivors include sons, Roger Smith of Spencer, Dwight Smith of Belle and Charles Smith of Charleston; daughter, Joyce Stricklen of Elkview; cousin, Malcolm Cottrell of Walton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who loved her, until we see her again.
A funeral service will be conducted at Matics Funeral Home in Clendenin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, with Pastor Lee Swor officiating; visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hutchison Family Cemetery on Vineyard Ridge, Walton.
The family would like to thank Hubbard Hospice House for their compassionate care and suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to this facility.
