Clendenin Conducting Community Survey for Comprehensive Plan – Deadline May 31

CLENDENIN, W.Va. – The Town of Clendenin is currently in the process of developing a comprehensive plan. The purpose of a comprehensive plan is to identify issues and concerns of residents that are negatively affecting the quality of life for those that live and work in Clendenin. The plan will include a detailed action plan outlining specific steps that Town government and other partners can take to address the identified issues and concerns. The plan will also be the foundation for future growth and development in the Town.

Water settlement checks could impact programs that low income and disabled people rely on

As many people still wait for their water settlement checks to come, which are expected now in late June, thousands of people who receive government assistance may have to repay their settlement back to the government. (WCHS/WVAH)

On April 27, 2018, Emilee Butcher signed with Wesleyan College, where she will be attending this fall. Emilee is the daughter of Sharri and Mike Blagg and Richard Butcher. Emilee will major in nursing at Wesleyan she will also run cross country for them. (more…)

Elk River Huskies Release Fall 2018 Season Schedule

Homeowner holds break-in suspects at gunpoint until deputies arrive

A frustrated flood victim held break-in suspects at gunpoint Tuesday morning after a storage building was broken in to along Spencer Road in Clendenin.

Kanawha County deputies said Dusty Jones is charged with breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods while Kayla Gibson was arrested at the scene on previous warrants.

The homeowner, who suffered losses in the June 2016 flood, held them at gunpoint until deputies arrived at the scene.

Eyewitness News has a crew at the courthouse and will be providing updates at they become available.

Elk River Huskies Little League Football and Cheerleading Registration Now Open

ELKVIEW, W.Va. – Registration for the Elk River Huskies Little League Football and Cheerleading is now open for Fall 2018 season for ages 5 – 12 by July 1st.

On-site registration is available during Spring Football at the Elkview Community Center Monday, April 9th through Friday, May 18th on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Early bird registration special of $55.00 per child is available through May 20th.

Price beginning May 21 will be $75.00. Regular season practice begins July 23rd.

West Virginia American Water Files General Rate Case Request with Public Service Commission

Request driven by $200 million in capital investments for system upgrades; Existing system improvement surcharge lessens overall impact to customers

Charleston, W.Va. (April 30, 2018) – West Virginia American Water today filed an application with the Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) to adjust its rates for water and wastewater service. The primary reason for the rate request is the approximately $200 million that the company will have invested in system improvements to replace and upgrade aging infrastructure since its last rate case.
