MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State softball sophomore Allison Rager has been named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
It marks the third time this season that an Eagle has received an OVC honor as junior Chelsea McManaway has twice been named OVC Pitcher of the Week.
Rager began the week with a home run in the latter half of Morehead State’s two-game sweep of Division II foe Alderson Broaddus (W. Va.) last Tuesday. In the Eagles’ next outing at Austin Peay the following Friday, Rager homered twice in an 11-0 shutout of the Governors. The two home runs marked a single game career-high and she also set a career-high with six runs batted in.
Rager ended the week batting .467, connecting on seven total hits in 15 at-bats.
On the season, she is hitting .427, which ranks third in the league, with eight home runs and a team-high 25 runs batted in. Her slugging percentage is .805, which leads the OVC.
As a freshman, Rager was named to the All-OVC Newcomer Team and the OVC All-Tournament Team after allowing just three earned runs in 19.1 innings. She was also named OVC Pitcher of the Week after throwing shutouts versus UT Martin and Southeast Missouri.
