Sporting a 6-2 mark to open the season, the Morehead State softball team is back in action this weekend at the Kennesaw State Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament.
The Eagles face Florida A&M for a doubleheader Friday at noon, tangle with the host Owls on Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and finish with a matchup versus Rutgers on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Junior utility player Allison Rager leads the OVC in batting average (players with more than 25 at-bats) at .480. She also is 2-1 in the circle with a 3.26 ERA. All 12 of Rager’s hits have been singles, but she does have a team-high seven RBI to go along with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Senior Ellen Barrett (.381) and freshmen Kalle Coleman (.348) and Paige Scruggs (.318) also boast batting efficiencies of better than .300.
Senior pitcher Chelsea McManaway (4-1, 1.83 ERA) again leads MSU with 40 strikeouts in 30.2 innings.
Florida A&M enters the weekend at 3-8, while Kennesaw State is 2-3 (its opening weekend tournament was canceled). Rutgers sits at 3-6.
