Lisa Dawn Shores, 32, of Cooperstown, passed away on January 22, 2018, at her home. She was born June 7, 1985, in Charleston, WV.

She was preceded in death by her mother; Clara Mae Wilson; a brother, Oliver Sheldon Wilson Jr.; nephew, Richard D. Barker; and an infant baby boy.

She is survived by her father, Ronald Keith Shores of Whitesville; sisters, Sharon Vickers of Madison, Terry Clark of Webster, TX, Tammy Goodwin of King George, VA, Regina Wilson of Marmet, Clara Nelson of Prenter; brothers, Billy Wilson of Prenter, Alan Wilson and wife, Kim of Wharton, Daniel Wilson of Elkview; fiance’, Clinton Mullins of Charleston; and her precious Fur babies, Snowflake, Tinkerbell, Sally and Grizzley; many special nieces and nephews.

Ella R. (Pauley) Fitzwater, 86, of Alum Creek, traded her battered body for a heavenly one on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Hubbard House West surrounded by her family.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and served as the Pastor’s wife and church pianist for many faithful years. She had a love for music and at the age of 13 began playing the piano at several local churches as their church pianist which was amazing in itself being self-taught. Later training her children to harmonize and travel around the area singing for the Lord known as the Fitzwater Family singing group. (more…)

Dudley Garland Dawson, 79, of Procious, WV entered in the arms of Jesus at Hubbard Hospice House on January 21, 2018.

He was the son of the late Hubert Eurastus Dawson and Flora Mae Butcher Dawson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dexter; sisters, Nora Carmen Samples, Cledith Atwood and Chessie McCune.

Dudley was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was retired from Clay Co. Department of Highways with 18 years of service and Clendenin Lumber with 29 years of service. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the Burke United Methodist Church, Procious, WV. Dudley Loved the Love of his family and truly loved people.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Elaine, Dudley was the love of her life. He is also survived by: son, Douglas (Kim) Dawson of Clendenin; daughter, Melissa (Jim) Schmaltz of Hoover, Alabama; grandsons, Jarin Schmaltz and T. J. Dawson; great granddaughter, Elisabeth Ruth Schmaltz; sister, Claudia O’Dell of Massillon, OH; and brothers, Dane Dawson of Shreve, Ohio and Daniel Dawson of Fayetteville, WV.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday January 27, 2018 at Matics Funeral Home Clendenin. The Funeral will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Ferguson and Pastor Allen Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Hubert E. Dawson Family Cemetery Procious, WV.

Charles Walter “Chuck” Morton, 87, of Charleston passed away Friday January 19, 2018 at Eastbrook Center, Charleston.

Chuck was born on July 22, 1930, in Charleston, to the late Wilford & Loula Mae Hedrick Morton. He was a retired glass cutter at Libby-Owens Ford; was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Charleston; a member of the Elks Club, Charleston Masonic Lodge #153 A.F. & A.M. and the Beni Kedem Shrine. Judy Gay Moore, 81, of Quick, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, after a short illness. She was born September 19, 1936, to the late Dewey and Allie Moore.

Judy’s greatest love was her family and she enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed browsing the flea market on the weekend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

He was the son of the late William Bradley and Milly Strickland Canterbury. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mae Canterbury; brother, Larry Canterbury.

Marvin was a member of the Clio Community Church.

He is survived by: step-daughters, Carolyn Holstein and Nancy Smith; step-sons, Randy and Ronnie Short; brothers, Hoyt and Harold Canterbury; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bobbi was a kind hearted, loving, beautiful, and all around awesome person. She loved her trips to Florida with her family, brother, and best friends Herman and Sharon Gibson. She loved camping with them and her brother, Herschel Gibson and his wife Jayne. She belonged to Lift Jesus Higher Fellowship in Clendenin for over 20 years.
